6 Things You Need to Know About Rebates

Rebates are the icing on the cake.  We watch the sales, we clip the coupons, and we stockpiled the goods.  The very last step is to file a Rebate.  These can add another layer of savings to users.  As I mentioned last week, we recently moved.  I’m thinking that an extra $100 each month would come in handy. So step number 1, is to look for some rebates to use over the next 90 days.

Some rebates are for goods only.  The Kimberly Clark rebates, the PG rebates are good examples.  These dictate which brands qualify for money back by mail.  These are usually good for $15-$20 on a purchase of $50 or more.  Not bad if you can stockpile, use coupons and hit a sale.  By the time you add these discounts up it’s often over 75% savings.
Then there are the alcohol rebates.  These still confuse people.  How do I know?  My sister called.  She has been listening to me tell her about rebates for 3 years, and she just got it last week.
1. Alcohol rebates are for FOOD not liquor.  They offer you a rebates on purchases of meat, produce, cheese, salty snacks etc.
2. When you file the rebate, it matters where you live (address requesting the rebate)  not where you purchase your groceries.
3. Some rebates are High dollar rebates.  This means that they offer a high value to the amount you need to purchase.  For example, one out now says Get $20 on any $50 grocery purchase.  That is high dollar, because it’s 40% on the purchase of any groceries.
4. You need a qualified receipt.  That means from a well known grocery store, like County Market.  Bob’s corner market isn’t a good idea.  The store logo must be on the receipt, The store address, date and time of purchase must be on the receipt.
5. You will be asked to circle the Regular price of the items.  Here is why CM receipts are best.  If we are running a sale on ground beef, and it’s regularly $6.50, and you paid $3.50 you will get credit for the full $6.50.  So let’s say you buy $50 in ground beef, yet pay $30 out of pocket, you’ll get $20 from the rebate, you just saved 80%.  That’s fantastic savings.
6. Some offers are NO alcohol required.  Missouri customers. Please get your rebate forms and start getting money back.  If there is no alcohol portion, it’s all refunded.  Missouri shoppers should be getting 75% of their groceries free all the time.

Here are some places to look online for more rebate forms:

Hot Coupon World  You have to set up an account to converse with those who have forms to trade.  Once you have an account, just follow this rebates only board until you see something you can use.  I find that North Carolina traders are great for Missouri buyers.  I live in MO, and NC has the same offers.  If you are in IL there are 28 states that will have the same offers you have.

Ebay  Here is a search link I set up so you can see how I do it.  I search "Beer rebates" and this is what pops up.  If you want to narrow it down add "IL" Or "MO"  or "IN" to your search.

Lynns Coupons and Rebates  She has everything.  PG by mail forms, liquor forms, nbpr forms and general items.  She runs this small business form her home in FL and does a great job of trading as well.  So if you decide you want forms for free, pick up extras to trade for credit on account.  You can follow her fb page too.

6 Ways to Make Grocery Saving Simple

Saving money on groceries does not happen at the store.  Saving money happens before you get to the store.  Here are six steps to help you be fully prepared to maximize your savings.

1.  Make your grocery list.  You list should include all the regular  items your family craves, and the items you will need to make meals this week.  The items you have on your list each week are considered your HOT LIST items.  These should be items you trade coupons for on message boards and ask for from manufacturers direct.

2.  Look at the weekly ad.  Its easy to find the weekly ad, it's here every week.  You just look it over for those items that are on sale that will make meal planning easy and save you some money.  There are about 175 items on sale each week and we list the full ad on My County Market and the coupon match up on County Market Coupon News.

3.  Go through your clipped coupons.   If you see spaghetti sauce on sale, it may be time to redeem that pasta coupon.  Look for good meal planning matches to your shopping list and the weekly sale.

4.  Open up your apps.  The  My County Market App  will have 30-40 items where you can make matches and save additional money.  Plus it has the coupon wallet feature where you can see your savings adding up.  Next, open   Ibotta app for rebates  it has additional money you can use on top of manufacturer's coupons.

5.  Use the Penny Pincher booklet!  It's full of deals that also offer stacked savings.  These are County Market store coupons so you can use this coupon and a manufactuer's coupon on the same product.  Penny Pincher coupon booklets are delivered inside your month price shopper in your mailbox.

6.  Pack up your coupon stash and bring it along.  You may find non advertised deals in store and want to make a last minute addition to your cart.  If your coupon organizer is at home, you'll miss out on a deal. It never hurts to be fully prepared.

Extreme Coupon Terms

Do you want to learn to be an extreme couponer?  You'll need to know the terms.  You can follow many national boards and you'll need to understand the lingo.

There are many terms used in Couponing.  To follow message boards and conduct trades you will need to know them.  Here are a few:
· MIR is a Mail in Rebate.  It can be for a new product offering, a satisfaction guarantee, or an alcoholic based rebate.
· OYNO = On Your Next Order
· OYNSO = On Your Next Shopping Order (Catalina coupon)
· TMF = Try Me Free
· FAR = Free After Rebate
· BLINKIES = In Store Smart Source Coupons.  These come in the little box with a blinking light.  They have sensors to issue a coupon based on movement.
· BOGO/B1G1 = Buy One Get One
· CATALINA = Coupon printed at register after purchased
· CRT = Customer Receipt Tape.  Usually required when filing a rebate.  Must have the address of the store, and date issued to be accepted.
· EB/ECB = Extra Care Bucks these are rewards offered by CVS.  Similar to Catalina’s at County Market yet offered as a Store Coupon.
· FAR = Free After Rebate
· GM = General Mills (Newspaper insert)
· MIR = Mail in Rebate

· OP = Out of Pocket
· PENNY PINCHER=County Market store coupons issued by mail monthly.  Look for them 3rd week of each month.

· RAINCHECK= When an item is on sale, and they run out of stock, you can ask for a raincheck at customer service to lock in your price so that you do not miss out on the deal.
· SS= Smart Source (Newspaper Insert)

Ibotta Dollars

One of the easiest phone apps you can use in 2017 is Ibotta.  It's a rebate app that allows you to save money on groceries.  It is a rebate, because you get the money direct to consumer.  The store does not accumulate the savings like with coupons.  The money is paid out to the consumer direct, it is paid each time you reach a $20 threshold.  You can take your money in the form of a paypal deposit, or an Amazon gift card, or many other gift card options.

One of the appeals to Ibotta is the way they offer brands and non brands at the same time.  You can get dollars on all kinds of brands, and often you can get any brand rebates in the dairy department and in fresh produce.  These work together to allow you to redeem many rebates during a month.  There are generic offers each week and these change frequently.

Ibotta offers other ways to save money too.  One of the best ways, is to offer you a bonus system when you consistently use Ibotta, and redeem rebates.  This is the best way to increase your savings on items.  The bonuses can add up to a lot of money.  Usually you will get $2 bonus offers when you redeem 3 rebates.  When you apply that amount to each item, you are adding $.67 per item, which is a good product value.   As you redeem one bonus, others will be offered.  These bonuses can be awarded on your choice of purchases.  Some who use Ibotta regularly insist these are worth more than the basic offers.

Finally, you can get $10 when you sign with a referral.  Always use a referral code to get started, it's free money! (Here is a general code if you need one  wnmjkey)  Then after your first redemption, you will be allowed to share your own referral code for $5 per person who signs up and redeems an offer.  It's a great way to put you over the top of any redemption.   There is not a limit on these bonuses.

The best part about using Ibotta at County Market is that you don't have to scan in your receipt and wait for approval.  All purchases with your max card are automatically calculated.  You pick your offers before you shop.  You shop and scan your max card.  That is it!  It will post to your account, and when you hit $20 you redeem your savings.

Use all the bonuses, sign up money, name brand, and store brand offers to add that extra savings to your annual goals.

Coupons Already Clipped

As I was looking into the week's upcoming sales, I found myself wanting a few coupons I did not have in my coupon stash.  I immediately turned to clipping services for help.  The clipping services acquire large numbers of all newspaper coupons and can mail them out to you when you see a really hot match up pop up.  First, let's explain how I knew I'd need a clipping service.
The ad is ready on Wednesday and is good for one full week.  This week, we have Bush's Grilling Beans on sale for $.99  Wholly smokes, that's $.69 off regular everyday price.  It's a good deal to stock up without coupons.  Yet knowing we love having a few cans of the Steakhouse recipe in the cabinet my HOT LIST search jumped into high gear.  I check the cabinet, and we have two cans "in stock." Now I just need to do some planning and ordering.

We generally fix Bush's Grillin Beans when we grill out.  We've got 10-12 more good grill nights this fall for meals.  So now I know we're looking for 8 minimum items to purchase.  I need 8 coupons to match up. An August Smart Source issued a $1 on 2 coupon on BGB that is valid this week.  Next I just needed to order from a clipping service who has enough coupons in stock and will ship today.  If it ships the day I order, I will have them in plenty of time to use with the sale.

Today, I ordered from  Coupon Stockpile.  I've used several services over the years.  Most all operate the same, they list the coupons they have and charge a small handling fee.  It's a good idea to shop around for any food coupons you'd like multiples of in the same order.  Handling fees are pretty reasonable, but no need to pay shipping twice!  I ended up typing in some key words into the search bar for other name brands that I knew were on my HOT LIST.  Things like Kelloggs Pop Tarts, Ragu, Frigo, and Old El Paso.  Just the items I knew I'd be buying.  Sure enough, coupons were available for $.08. and the Ragu coupons were $1 on 1, so I would net out $.92 per item when purchased.

Now as the sales roll in, and the coupons are in hand I can save money at the store.  This week, I'm buying 8 can's of Bush's Grilling Beans for $.49 each as opposed to the regular price of $1.69  That's a savings of 71% This is well above my savings goal for any HOT LIST stockpile item.

Everyone has a HOT LIST.  It's those items your family likes to purchase.  If you're wondering what those items are, just look at your last three grocery receipts.  Jot down which items you purchase over and over on a regular basis.  71% savings on these items can save you a lot of money this year.  Keep collecting your receipts until you have a clear picture of what your family likes to buy.

5 Apps Every Thrifty Shopper Needs

When it comes to saving money on your groceries, there's an app for that!  Most stores these days have apps that give you directions to local stores, or hours of operation.  But to actually save money with an app, you'll need the good ones.  Your phone can be full of apps that save you money.  Yet most people do not have the 5 best apps loaded and ready to go at any time.  These 5 will save you money and are easy to use.

1.   My County Market App It just makes sense right?  You shop at the store, why no use their app?  It has County Market's store brand coupons you can use each week, and coupons for brands not found on other apps like Pepsi, Frito and Produce.  As you select the offers you want, the savings are accumulated in the app when you scan your Max Card at the checkout lane.  Simple and it saves you real money.

2.  Ibotta app for rebates The rebate app and the coupon app work together.  You can use both (should they match up) on the purchase of one item.  Rebates are credited direct to the consumer's paypal account after you claim $20 in savings. Once you download this app, it will ask which store you wish to shop, click on County Market, and start gathering up the items you want to save money with.  That's it. Just select them.  Once you check out, it will auto read your Max Card and your money is added to your account. Simple.

3.  Retale App.   Start by using an app that gives you all the sales circulars weekly.   Retale includes all the local circulars, including County Market.  Never miss a deal by not having a newspaper in hand!

4.  Gas Buddy.     Don't overlook something simple as Gas Buddy.  It will let you know if its worth an extra mile to save $6 on a fill up.  Updated by consumers, and confirmed by consumers it often will save you $.20 to $.35 per gallon on gas.  Here's the kicker-you already have $.25 off gas coupon from County Market right?  Now use it at the best possible time.

5.  Checkout 51. It's very similar to Ibotta, but has slightly different offers.  It works the same way, but you take a photo of your receipt upon checkout.

These money savers can add some serious bucks to your year end savings.  Why wait?  Load them onto your phone now.  They are FREE!

Printing Coupons is still a thing!

Bricks coupons are the most printed online coupons and the easiest way to build your coupon stash.  One of the questions I commonly get is about Bricks coupons, or printable coupons found on a website that are not actually on Coupons.com  These are coupons that a manufacturer wants you to visit their site to print, and does not want included in the 200+ that are available directly on Coupons.com.  Coupons.com provides products and services utilizing our core coupon technology. Our their secure technology gives clients tight control over the number of coupons distributed, which helps to limit redemption.

Distribution Control

One of the reasons these exist is for the control of the distributions.  It makes good sense that a vendor would want to count the number of coupons being issued.  All limits are device based.  The limit works per device, like your computer.  You can print two per computer.  These limits are enforced for the entire coupons.com network.

The Coupon Printer

Before consumers print their first coupon from the systems, they must install the Coupon Printer, an industry-standard browser plug-in. Unlike cookie-based controls, removing and reinstalling the Coupon Printer does not affect its security settings. Moreover, a coupon never appears on the consumer's screen. Instead, it is sent directly to their printer, to prevent duplication of the coupon. The Coupon Printer also provides each coupon with barcodes that can be scanned at the point of sale.  There is no way to print coupons without the plug in being downloaded to your computer.  It’s the essential part of the counting process.

Each Coupon is Unique

Each printed coupon carries a unique ID that is encrypted in a 2-D PDF417 barcode, enabling each coupon to be traced from print to redemption. All Coupons.com Incorporated coupons can be authenticated using this unique code. This unique ID also can be used to detect counterfeit or altered coupons. Cashiers are often looking at these codes when reviewing your coupon just to be sure they are not duplicated or altered in any way.
Where to get them
We list Printable Bricks coupons in the Saturday blog often. These are the ones found on manufacturer’s sites.  I do not list ones found on Coupons.com, I assume you can find those weekly as you need them.  The ones listed are direct links instead of vendor landing platforms.  Meaning, I’ll send you directly to the Print page.  I will often list a coupon like this:
Save $1 on 1 Swanson Chicken
(Bricks print 2x)
This will let you know before you click on the link that it is direct, and that you should always click the link twice and print your limit of coupons.
Resets
Once a coupon has reached it’s limited exposure, it will expire.  Often new users will think a coupon “Will always be there to print”  or “I can print it tomorrow from work”  and that is not the case.  Many times a Hot coupon will reach it’s limit  within hours of being available online.
