This is a great time to discuss where to get coupons to match catalinas. Often in our coupon match blog I talk about Booklet coupons, Hangtags, Tearpads, and Peelies. These are coupons that are randomly shipped to stores all over the US. These come inside boxes and are packed at the manufacturer's. Usually, they are not consistently in the stores. Meaning, County Market may have some in one store, not in another. Or, you may find the coupons in other grocery stores or convenience stores.
The Key to couponing successfully is having a source for the coupons you want. The internet makes that easy. Simply look for coupon clipping services to get the ones your store doe not have. They will charge you a small handling fee to get them to your home. It's worth it! Especially if you are planning to get items close to free after coupons.
We list the coupon matches so that you can more easily find someone online who is trading those coupons. IF you know it exists, you know what to look for when you're hunting up some deals. Good luck!

This weekend I taught 3 classes on coupons. We set up clubs in Keokuk, Rushville and evening club in Pittsfield. What was interesting was the number of teens who attended the coupon classes. Some were clearly there to grab coupons for their parents. Some were there to learn.
In Keokuk the 4H club is teaching teens to grocery shop an save money. Two girls were asking all kinds of questions for their summer projects. What a great idea! All kids need to learn this life skill. Just think, you buy a car only 6 times in life, you buy a house 3 times, yet you buy groceries 2080 times. Don’t you wonder if we spend so much time shopping for groceries why we don’t spend more time teaching our kids about saving money at the grocery store?
This summer, my 13 year old will be attending coupon club with me. She could be at grandma’s reading a book, or texting her friends. Instead I’m making her attend our club meetings. I’m hoping some of our conversations will rub off on her. I want my kids to know how to save money, and how to use those life lessons in other aspects of their entire life.
If I had a time machine, I think I’d go back and start couponing in 1997 when I moved into my own home. By my best estimate, I could have saved over $90,000 in those years. Wow. Maybe I can teach my daughter just enough this year that she will have those same savings habits.
All of our club meetings are ran by customers and are open the public. Teens are welcome to join so long as they are not disturbing the other members. If your store has not started a club yet-don't worry, it's on its way!

When someone finds out that I teach classes about saving money with coupons, I always get asked, “Can’t you just buy generic brands and save more?” Customers assume the Store brands are always less money. That’s not the case. Especially to an avid coupon user.
Coupons are the top brand name’s way of allowing their price to be less than the store brand. Many times I can pick up dairy products, canned goods, and snack foods for less than the store brand.
Here’s an example: Mario Olives were on sale about 4 weeks ago. The sale price was $1.25, the store brand price was $1.09. I had a coupon for $.50 on 1 to redeem. My final was $.75 saving me $.34 over the store brand. This is a simple case of saving on the top brand over the Store brand.
Sometimes the store brand is much less expensive. That’s where using your VALUE system comes into play. I often purchase County Market Store bread. My kids eat peanut butter sandwiches for snacks and often my 6 year old will leave the bread tie off the bag. It becomes an automatic that by the time we’re at the end of the bag, it’s been exposed to air and needs to be tossed.
So I choose to purchase a less expensive bread over the Sara Lee Honey baked bread, even though I personally love the honey wheat!
You may find that some of the store brands taste exactly the same as top name brands, and you may make a decision that the store brand is not up to your VALUE standards. Keep track! Put a note in your price book inside your coupon organizer. If you actively track your preferences you’ll feel better about making the decision when the time comes.

Most of the weekly questions I get have something to do with finding Booklet coupons. Those are the little books of recipes, coupons, and consumer information put out for the products. Kraft, Campbell's, Kelloggs, all the big guys create booklets with their coupons to educate you on why you need their products, and how you can easily incorporate them in your daily life.
Often I make notes of the coupon offers inside the booklets as they match our weekly sale. Some of you will be able to find them easily in your store. Others, especially the smaller stores will have trouble. As I put the Booklet coupon amount, I'll also name the booklet if I can. Several coupon users have had success, simply asking for a copy of the booklet to be delivered to your home.
Simply let the company know which booklet you would like, and why.

My mailbox receives coupons from company mailing lists weekly. Always let them know which product you are interested in purchasing. They usually ship immediately, and you'll have a brand new booklet of savings. Want ideas as to which booklets are available? Here is what I do, I look over Coupon Databases like the one Hot Coupon World keeps. As consumers place the booklet information in the database, I can select to run a search of all booklet type coupons that are current. Visit the company website and request a booklet. Simple and easy.

This is a great time to discuss where to get coupons to match catalinas. Often in our coupon match blog I talk about Booklet coupons, Hangtags, Tearpads, and Peelies. These are coupons that are randomly shipped to stores all over the US. These come inside boxes and are packed at the manufacturer's. Usually, they are not consistently in the stores.
