Do you remember the day you decided to start coupon shopping? Some of us have been using coupons so long we may have forgotten that first big rush. We may have also forgotten that couponers make up only 5% of the shoppers in the stores.This week, I’m going to invite some friends to coupon shop with me. I’m just going to give them a call and say, “Hey you should learn to coupon shop” The gift of savings can be a lifelong gift. But Why Save?
- The Saved Coin. Yes, you get actual money off your regular purchases with coupons. Last week, I made my grocery list, then saved $42 off with coupons. That was an actual $42 in my pockets.
- The stockpile. A friend needed some groceries two weeks ago. She was desperate and needed some staples. It was easy for me to hit my stockpile and help her out. Most of the goods I gave here were deeply discounted groceries I had picked up with coupons.
- The money saved, pays for a better lifestyle. This year alone, I’ve used my coupon savings to buy new curtains for the family room, new glasses, and bedding. Not to mention I was able to have lots of Barbecue's on my deck last summer compliments of coupons.
- The Rush. Yes, It’s still there. I picked up 24 cans of green giant veggies last week, for $6 and It made me smile. I saved 75% off the regular price and I admit it….I got a rush. I love the feeling of saving money. Even if it’s only $18 at a time.
- The Friends. My coupon club is filled with people who share a common interest in saving money. It is really nice to have that support network that keeps me focused and excited about coupons. Plus, I’ve become friends with them too.
- The lessons. My now 14 year old was telling her friends MOM’s how to save money. I overheard her saying how easy it is to get started and was giving them a quick start to saving money. What a good example I’m setting for my children. They can be savers their entire lives.
